Con un tama\u00f1o de 11 a 21 mil\u00edmetros, posee unas antenas extremadamente largas y unas alas diminutas que resultan inservibles para el vuelo. Sin embargo, lo que le falta en el aire le sobra en car\u00e1cter. Los machos son fuertemente territoriales y defienden encarnizadamente sus ramas de zarza frente a cualquier rival, emitiendo un estridente y corto chirrido tanto de d\u00eda como de noche. Su dieta es muy variada: comen hojas de ortiga y cazan peque\u00f1os pulgones. Su ciclo de vida guarda un secreto incre\u00edble: los huevos puestos en madera en descomposici\u00f3n tardan hasta dos a\u00f1os enteros en eclosionar, por lo que las distintas generaciones nunca llegan a conocerse. En las afueras de Akalla, Suecia, me encontr\u00e9 con varios machos inm\u00f3viles en absoluta calma, \u00a1vigilando atentamente sus peque\u00f1os territorios en la
