Es probablemente muy conocida por las masas de espuma blanca (el llamado &#8220;salivazo de cuco&#8221;) que construyen sus ninfas en los tallos para protegerse mientras se alimentan de la savia del xilema. Sin embargo, lo que hace a los adultos verdaderamente espectaculares para los entusiastas de la naturaleza y fot\u00f3grafos es su asombroso polimorfismo de color. Los individuos de esta \u00fanica especie pueden presentar hasta 20 variedades crom\u00e1ticas distintas: desde crema p\u00e1lido y amarillo brillante hasta marrones intensos y negros aterciopelados, a menudo decorados con marcadas franjas longitudinales o patrones en mosaico. Encontr\u00e9 espec\u00edmenes con coloraciones totalmente distintas en la isla griega de Spetses en el oto\u00f1o de 2024 y en un parque sueco en el verano de 2026.
