Measuring less than 1 cm in length, <em>Asphaera quadrifasciata<\/em> stands out with a brilliant, contrasting color pattern, featuring bold transverse bands of red, white, pink, or yellow across its wing covers (elytra). These diurnal herbivores feed primarily on foliage and flowers. While they play a balanced role in wild ecosystems, large aggregations can occasionally pose a challenge in agricultural settings. I came across several brightly colored flea beetles while traveling in Ecuador. This particular individual was likely the very first one I encountered during my maiden trip to the Amazon rainforest, captured while testing out my new macrophotography
