Pero que no te enga\u00f1e su pac\u00edfica dieta &#8211; su ciclo reproductivo es pura ciencia ficci\u00f3n. La hembra intercepta a una chinche de campo adulta y ancla sus huevos directamente sobre su cuerpo. Una vez que eclosionan, las larvas perforan el duro caparaz\u00f3n del hu\u00e9sped para introducirse en \u00e9l. A diferencia de muchas avispas parasitoides que matan r\u00e1pidamente a sus presas, las larvas de Cylindromyia son endoparasitoides especializadas. Viven dentro del cuerpo del hu\u00e9sped \u2014e incluso pasan el invierno all\u00ed\u2014, manteniendo a la chinche con vida el mayor tiempo posible. Desde la perspectiva de un fot\u00f3grafo, capturar a estas bellezas es una aut\u00e9ntica prueba de paciencia. Cuando me top\u00e9 con un grupo de ellas, revoloteaban fren\u00e9ticamente de flor en flor sin detenerse ni un solo segundo. Debido a su movimiento err\u00e1tico e ininterrumpido \u2014y al hecho de que mi antiguo equipo macro era mucho m\u00e1s engorroso de manejar en ese entonces\u2014, lograr una toma n\u00edtida
