They possess short, bristle-like antennae, three-segmented muscular tarsi that power their incredible, spring-like leaps, and an extraordinarily enlarged pronotum\u2014the first segment of the thorax, which often expands into surreal shapes mimicking thorns, ants, or debris. This particular treehopper featured a highly modified pronotum stretched out like a tiny giraffe&#8217;s neck.
