Like its relatives, it features rows of fine spines along its hind legs and specialized piercing-sucking mouthparts built to feed on plant xylem fluid. While wingless nymphs develop on the specific stems where their eggs were laid, adults transform into highly mobile, generalist feeders. I crossed paths with this stunning individual in the protected forest of &#8220;La Perla&#8221; near La Concordia, Ecuador.
