Como otros miembros de su familia, cuenta con hileras de finas espinas en sus patas traseras y un aparato bucal picador-chupador adaptado para alimentarse del xilema de las plantas. Mientras que las ninfas sin alas se desarrollan en los tallos donde fueron depositados sus huevos, los adultos se convierten en voladores altamente m\u00f3viles. Me top\u00e9 con este espectacular ejemplar en el bosque protegido &#8220;La Perla&#8221;, cerca de La Concordia, Ecuador. Hab\u00eda cientos de ellos revoloteando en un amplio claro del bosque: \u00a1una concentraci\u00f3n impresionante y llena de contraste imposible de pasar por
