Ampliamente distribuidas por Am\u00e9rica Central y del Sur, pertenecen a la subfamilia <em>Cicadellinae<\/em> y est\u00e1n especializadas en alimentarse del xilema de las plantas. Me top\u00e9 con este colorido ejemplar durante una excursi\u00f3n a Nanegalito, un tranquilo pueblo enclavado en la megadiversa regi\u00f3n del valle de Mindo.
