Estos insectos de tama\u00f1o mediano a grande se alimentan principalmente de fluidos vegetales, son voladores notablemente fuertes y ruidosos, y son famosos por las distintivas expansiones foli\u00e1ceas de sus patas traseras. Este esp\u00e9cimen parteneciendo probablemente al genero <em>Petalops<\/em> era muy grande, ya que med\u00eda bastante m\u00e1s de dos cent\u00edmetros de largo y luc\u00eda una coloraci\u00f3n hermosamente intrincada. Mientras caminaba por el parque urbano de Puyo, en Ecuador, lo divis\u00e9 descansando contra las profundas sombras del follaje e hice lo posible por tomar algunas fotos bonitas de alto contraste. El proceso me llev\u00f3 varios minutos agachado en completa inmovilidad, lo que divirti\u00f3 a los lugare\u00f1os que paseaban por el parque, \u00a1quienes claramente se preguntaban qu\u00e9 demonios estaba haciendo este turista loco mirando fijamente hacia los matorrales!<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Los chinches pata de hoja (Coreidae) son una gran familia de chinches verdaderos pertenecientes al orden Hemiptera.
