It belongs to the <em>Eumolpinae<\/em> subfamily, a massive group of over 7,000 species known for their brilliant, metallic iridescence. As gorgeous as they are on camera, they\u2019re actually notorious troublemakers for farmers; the larvae target roots while the adults strip the leaves of crops like citrus, palms, and sweet potatoes. Because there is so much diversity within this group, trying to identify the exact species from a photo alone is a massive challenge<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I spotted this
