Aunque pertenece a la familia <em>Pyrgomorphidae<\/em> \u2014un grupo conocido internacionalmente como &#8220;saltamontes llamativos&#8221; por sus brillantes colores de advertencia\u2014, este insecto mayoritariamente \u00e1ptero opt\u00f3 por la estrategia evolutiva contraria, utilizando un camuflaje perfecto para mimetizarse con el denso follaje tropical. Esta especie exhibe un marcado dimorfismo sexual; las hembras son significativamente m\u00e1s grandes que los machos, un rasgo estrechamente ligado al clima c\u00e1lido que habitan. La presi\u00f3n evolutiva favoreci\u00f3 el mayor tama\u00f1o de las hembras para maximizar su fecundidad (capacidad de albergar m\u00e1s huevos), mientras que el menor tama\u00f1o de los machos probablemente les permite madurar m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido. Cuando tuve la suerte de divisar a este impresionante ejemplar hembra, no se movi\u00f3 ni un solo mil\u00edmetro durante varios minutos, confiando plenamente en su disfraz y permiti\u00e9ndome tomar
