A diferencia de muchos de sus parientes fr\u00e1giles y de colores apagados, las especies de <em>Teucholabis<\/em> tienen un aspecto muy brillante y suelen presentar llamativas franjas negras y amarillas que imitan a la perfecci\u00f3n a los insectos con aguij\u00f3n. Con frecuencia muestran alas sorprendentes con bandas transversales de color marr\u00f3n: la segunda banda cruza la vena transversal (cord), mientras que la tercera se sit\u00faa justo en el \u00e1pice o punta del ala. Sus larvas son xilobiontes y se desarrollan bajo la corteza, entre las fibras del l\u00edber de los \u00e1rboles en descomposici\u00f3n. Tuve la incre\u00edble suerte de cruzarme con esta tipula de colores tan vivos en el bosque protegido La Perla. Me permiti\u00f3 acercarme durante unos breves segundos, d\u00e1ndome la oportunidad de inmortalizar su belleza en unas cuantas
