Tanto los machos como las hembras lucen un destello azul celeste brillante en el octavo segmento de su abdomen, el cual es mayormente oscuro. Este llamativo marcador visual funciona como una especie de &#8220;luz trasera&#8221; o linterna biol\u00f3gica que brilla entre la vegetaci\u00f3n. En el caso de las hembras, la cosa se pone verdaderamente colorida: \u00a1existen en cinco variaciones crom\u00e1ticas distintas! Algunas comienzan su vida con un vibrante tono rosa o violeta antes de volverse marrones o verdes, mientras que otras imitan permanentemente el color azul del macho, una astuta t\u00e1ctica de camuflaje para evitar el acoso durante el cortejo. A la hora de aparearse, se entrelazan formando un hermoso &#8220;coraz\u00f3n&#8221; o rueda gen\u00e9tica. Estos maratones rom\u00e1nticos son incre\u00edblemente largos, durando entre tres y seis horas; una ventana estrat\u00e9gica en la que el macho se encarga de retirar meticulosamente el esperma de cualquier rival de los apareamientos anteriores de la hembra. Me top\u00e9 con este depredador a\u00e9reo de silueta delicada, famoso por su voraz apetito por los insectos voladores, justo en el jard\u00edn de la casa de verano de mi familia en Serock,
