Mientras que la mayor\u00eda de las lib\u00e9lulas esperan el calor del pleno verano, esta pionera est\u00e1 perfectamente equipada para el fr\u00edo: su t\u00f3rax est\u00e1 cubierto por un abrigo de vello denso y plumoso. Este vello act\u00faa como un aislante t\u00e9rmico natural que le ayuda a conservar el calor corporal, permiti\u00e9ndole surcar los cielos en los frescos d\u00edas de principios de primavera. De hecho, es la especie de lib\u00e9lulas grandes que vuela m\u00e1s temprano en Europa, activa desde mediados de abril hasta julio. A pesar de ser una depredadora a\u00e9rea de \u00e9lite, es extremadamente sensible a la luz; en el instante en que una nube cubre el sol, se sumerge r\u00e1pidamente entre los juncos o la densa vegetaci\u00f3n para descansar. Los machos son un espect\u00e1culo visual, con un abdomen negro como el carb\u00f3n salpicado de brillantes manchas azules en forma de pera y unos ojos de un azul el\u00e9ctrico hipnotizante. En una de mis recientes salidas, me toc\u00f3 la loter\u00eda fotogr\u00e1fica: encontr\u00e9 a un hermoso macho descansando tranquilamente sobre la hojarasca, posando pacientemente mientras capturaba
