Consideradas aut\u00e9nticos &#8220;f\u00f3siles vivientes&#8221;, estas polillas en miniatura carecen de la espiritrompa en espiral de las mariposas modernas; en su lugar, poseen mand\u00edbulas masticadoras funcionales. Con una envergadura de apenas 9 a 11 mil\u00edmetros, esta especie exhibe unas llamativas alas anteriores de color p\u00farpura bronceado met\u00e1lico, adornadas con dos bandas y una mancha ovalada de tono dorado. Habitan en bosques h\u00famedos y \u00e1cidos de la regi\u00f3n pale\u00e1rtica, donde los adultos mastican activamente el polen de plantas como los c\u00e1rices y los ar\u00e1ndanos. Mientras los adultos danzan a la luz del d\u00eda, sus secretas larvas permanecen envueltas en el misterio, ocultas en la hojarasca donde se cree que se alimentan de las tiernas hojas j\u00f3venes del ar\u00e1ndano. Durante mi cicloviaje a lo largo del golfo de Botnia en junio de 2026, divis\u00e9 estas antiguas gemas en tres zonas boscosas diferentes de Suecia y Finlandia. Debido a su tama\u00f1o microsc\u00f3pico, necesit\u00e9 m\u00e1s de 100 intentos antes de lograr clavar el enfoque y asegurar unas cuantas capturas
