Ampliamente extendida por Europa y el norte de Asia, esta especie de 4 a 7.5 mm de longitud prefiere ambientes sombr\u00edos y h\u00famedos, como linderos de bosques y prados h\u00famedos. Los adultos son \u00e1giles cazadores que atrapan moscas m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as en pleno vuelo, complementando su dieta con n\u00e9ctar y fluidos de excrementos. Sus larvas desempe\u00f1an un papel ecol\u00f3gico fundamental al descomponer los desechos animales, mientras que los adultos sirven de alimento para las aves de pastizal. Activas principalmente de abril a octubre, algunas moscas m\u00e1s resistentes llegan a dejarse ver incluso en d\u00edas suaves de invierno. Me encontr\u00e9 con esta peque\u00f1a y discreta mosca varias veces en Suecia durante el verano de 2026. Al principio la confund\u00ed con una de las peque\u00f1as moscas amarillentas comunes que suelen verse posadas en el follaje, \u00a1y solo me di cuenta de su verdadera identidad al observarla m\u00e1s de cerca! La segunda vez, sorprend\u00ed a una de esas peque\u00f1as depredadoras justo despu\u00e9s de que atrapara a su presa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La mosca del esti\u00e9rcol
