Habitante de praderas abiertas y bosques h\u00famedos de Europa, esta especie prefiere disfrutar del sol radiante antes que ocultarse en la noche. El contraste f\u00edsico entre sexos es asombroso: mientras que las antenas de la hembra son relativamente modestas, el macho hace gala de unas delicadas hebras que pueden triplicar la longitud de todo su cuerpo. Estas polillas dependen estrechamente de la escabiosa (<em>Knautia arvensis<\/em>). Las hembras depositan sus huevos directamente en las cabezuelas de las flores para que las j\u00f3venes orugas se alimenten de las semillas. M\u00e1s tarde, las larvas se dejan caer al suelo y construyen unos estuches protectores aplanados y bivalvos con restos de hojas y detritos para protegerse mientras crecen. Me top\u00e9 con un macho impresionante en un camping junto a un r\u00edo en Suecia. Con sus largu\u00edsimas antenas desplegadas y envuelto en una capa dorada y resplandeciente, parec\u00eda haber salido directamente de un cuento de
