Las hembras son f\u00e1cilmente reconocibles por su llamativo t\u00f3rax de pelo &#8220;color zorro&#8221; y un brillante extremo abdominal de tono naranja encendido. Al emerger temprano en el a\u00f1o, estas abejas solitarias son vitales para polinizar cultivos como manzanos y sauces. Se ganan su nombre com\u00fan debido al h\u00e1bito de las hembras de excavar t\u00faneles en el c\u00e9sped corto, senderos y taludes soleados orientados al sur. Para recolectar el polen de flores complejas como los dientes de le\u00f3n o el espino blanco, emplean la t\u00e9cnica de &#8220;polinizaci\u00f3n por zumbido&#8221;, haciendo vibrar sus m\u00fasculos de vuelo para sacudir y liberar los granos. A diferencia de las abejas dom\u00e9sticas, estas criaturas son estrictamente solitarias; cada hembra act\u00faa como madre soltera, cavando y abasteciendo su propio nido. Sin embargo, sus guarder\u00edas subterr\u00e1neas se enfrentan a una astuta amenaza: la abeja cuco (<em>Nomada ruficornis<\/em>), un cleptopar\u00e1sito que se cuela en el t\u00fanel para poner sus propios huevos, dejando que sus larvas devoren el polen destinado a las cr\u00edas de la abeja minera. Divis\u00e9 a esta hermosa abeja unas cuantas veces durante mi viaje en bicicleta por el norte de Suecia, logrando clavar el enfoque para conseguir unas cuantas tomas magn\u00edficas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Les presento a la abeja minera de cola naranja (Andrena haemorrhoa), una polinimizadora primaveral clave que anida bajo tierra.
