Estas delicadas moscas, de aspecto similar al de un mosquito com\u00fan, se reconocen f\u00e1cilmente por su t\u00f3rax marcadamente jorobado y sus patas alargadas. A diferencia de otros relatadas moscas que atacan las ra\u00edces de plantas vivas, las larvas de <em>Mycomya<\/em> son estrictamente mic\u00f3fagas, aliment\u00e1ndose de las esporas e hifas de la madera en descomposici\u00f3n y de hongos de repisa como el yesquero multicolor (<em>Trametes versicolor<\/em>). Sorprendentemente, mientras la mayor\u00eda de los mosquitos invernan, algunas especies especializadas se mantienen activas durante el invierno, volando en los d\u00edas templados y nevados de Escandinavia. Dado que los adultos parecen casi id\u00e9nticos a simple vista, los entom\u00f3logos deben examinar bajo el microscopio las complejas e intrincadas estructuras de sus \u00f3rganos reproductores para identificar la especie exacta. Divis\u00e9 a este elegante ejemplar descansando en un camping finland\u00e9s. Mi primer impulso fue espantarlo pensando que se trataba de un mosquito com\u00fan, pero una mirada m\u00e1s cercana a trav\u00e9s del objetivo revel\u00f3 el inconfundible y pac\u00edfico perfil de
