The article describes a study conducted at the Republican Clinical Hospital in Moldova. The study found that while healthcare professionals had good knowledge and positive attitudes towards antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), their actual practices were inconsistent. Despite understanding the importance of AMS and having supportive attitudes, only a small percentage of participants reported good stewardship-related practices. The study suggests that effective AMS interventions need to combine individual training with structural support at the institutional level to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice.
Nadia, a fellow of the training programme MediPIET working in Moldova, did all this work by herself. Because I helped her in all the process, she asked me to be her co-author. Overall, I am very proud that Nadia organised this study and hope in the future she will be able to share the work burden and the achievements with colleagues from her team.
