The article explores the factors that influenced women’s adherence to the HPV vaccination schedule in Norway. The study focused on women born between 1991 and 1996 who were eligible for a catch‑up vaccination. The study found that easy access to vaccination sites and clear information from health authorities were key factors in ensuring that women completed all three doses of the vaccine. The main reasons for not completing the vaccination were forgetting to take the vaccine or not having enough time. The study highlights the importance of making vaccination easily accessible and providing clear information to improve adherence rates.
The survey had been conducted several years earlier but the publication of results was delayed because all experts involved were occupied with the COVID‑19 response. With my support, Elburg, a fellow of the EPIET training programme based in Norway, analysed and interpreted the data. Our results were quite optimistic, because logistical problems are much easier to fix than skepticism or vaccine hesitancy.
