We conducted a case\u2013control study using data from patients in Poland who were hospitalized with symptoms of aseptic meningo\u2011encephalitis and tested for TBE. Our analysis identified elevated cerebrospinal fluid protein levels and a reported tick bite as key indicators of TBE. Based on these findings, we developed a diagnostic algorithm to help clinicians determine which patients should be tested for TBE, particularly in resource\u2011limited settings. The algorithm demonstrated high sensitivity\u2014successfully identifying most TBE cases\u2014while showing lower specificity, reflecting the potential for false\u2011positive suspect cases that would need to be tested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study relied on advanced statistical analyses and was made possible by the exceptional efforts of Anna, an EPIET fellow based in Warsaw, who analysed data from a previously published nationwide screening programme of aseptic meningitis cases for TBE and led the development of a clinically applicable diagnostic algorithm.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.3109\/23744235.2015.1042036\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Article in English published in the journal Infectious Diseases (formerly Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1074,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":true},"class_list":["post-1083","publikacje","type-publikacje","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/pawel.stefanoff.pl\/work\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/publikacje\/1083","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/pawel.stefanoff.pl\/work\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/publikacje"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/pawel.stefanoff.pl\/work\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/publikacje"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pawel.stefanoff.pl\/work\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1074"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/pawel.stefanoff.pl\/work\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1083"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
