The article explored the economic burden of acute gastrointestinal infections (AGIs) in Poland. It showed that although the cost of treating an individual AGI case was relatively low, the overall societal impact was substantial, primarily due to indirect costs such as lost productivity. The study estimated that the societal cost of medically attended AGI cases amounted to approximately USD 2.2 billion annually, with indirect costs accounting for 53% of the total. The findings suggested that greater resources should have been allocated to the prevention and control of AGIs to reduce their economic impact on society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
