During this period, we found 635 primary cases of IMD, with only five household clusters reported. Chemoprophylaxis for close contacts increased significantly over the years but was still not consistently applied. Vaccination was not used for contacts, and no deaths or serious complications occurred in these clusters. Our findings highlighted the need for better education of health professionals and more consistent application of preventive measures to protect those at risk.

During discussions with international experts on invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) research, the Polish team realized that the surveillance forms used in Poland were far more detailed than those in most other European countries. Because these forms systematically recorded household contacts of each IMD case and documented who received chemoprophylaxis, we were able to conduct a straightforward analysis of transmission within households. Despite its simplicity, this analysis was soon incorporated into several systematic reviews evaluating the effectiveness of chemoprophylaxis in preventing secondary transmission.

["post-1293","publikacje","type-publikacje","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
