This study evaluated the reliability and validity of the Polish adaptation of the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS), a clinical rating tool designed to measure tic frequency, severity, and daily life impairment. We tested the tool on 60 Warsaw schoolchildren aged 12 to 15 who were diagnosed with tic disorders during a broader screening project. The analysis confirmed that the Polish version has acceptable overall reliability and validity, effectively sorting symptoms into motor and vocal tic categories. However, vocal tics showed a weaker correlation with general impairment than motor tics, likely because vocal tics were less common and generally milder in this population sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This publication was part of my PhD project. Before adapting the scale, we contacted the original authors, who responded quickly and kindly granted permission to translate and adapt it for Poland.
