The article investigates the genetic diversity of the bacterium Francisella tularensis, which causes tularemia, in Poland. Researchers analyzed bacterial strains collected between 1953 and 2013 and found significant genetic variability, indicating the bacterium is widespread in the environment. They also tested ticks and mosquitoes for the presence of F. tularensis DNA but found none, suggesting that these arthropods might not be the primary source of infection. The study proposes a new rapid genotyping method, v4-genotyping, which can be used directly on clinical and environmental samples to quickly identify the bacterium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
