The poster describes an analysis of carbapenem resistance among Gram-negative bacteria collected in Moldovan hospitals between 2019 and 2023. These data were analysed the first time since the start of testing implemented in 2019. The results were a bit scary, as 65% of all bacterial strains were resistant to carbapenems, the antibiotics reserved for the most serious infections. The work was done by Nadia, a fellow of the MediPIET training programme based in Moldova, in collaboration with the reference laboratory.
