Jumping spiders (family Salticidae) are small, agile arachnids recognized for their stout bodies, incredible leaping abilities, and exceptionally sharp eyesight. As the largest and most diverse spider family on Earth, they comprise thousands of species found across nearly all terrestrial habitats. They are among the most photographed arthropods in the world, celebrated for their unique looks, surreal facial patterns, and prominent front eyes. However, their mobility and diminutive size make capturing fine details extremely challenging. I spent quite some time trying to photograph this wonderfully woolly species, possibly from the subtribe  Freyina, encountered on the coast of Ecuador. Unfortunately, my photos didn’t turn out as sharp as I’d hoped for.
