Dichelops divisus is a species of shield bug (Pentatomidae: Carpocorini) native to South and Central America, with documented records spanning from Colombia to Brazil. Originally described in 1867 by the renowned entomologist Francis Walker, it was later placed under the subgenus Prodichelops within Dichelops. Like many of its close relatives—often known in agricultural contexts as green-belly bugs—it uses specialized piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on plant vascular systems. I spotted this shield bug during my very first photography expedition to the Amazon rainforest in Yasuní National Park. Looking back, I consider this one of the nicest and sharpest photos I ever took with my older gear (a Nikon 1 paired with the Laowa 100mm macro lens), captured right as I was gradually transitioning to my new setup!
